If your question is not here, please feel free to connect with me (paul@paulsash.ca). I am here to help you!
Métis and French-Canadian genealogy reports can trace back up to 20 generations, and sometimes even further! Some settlers in New France descended from the Kings of France, and if I can link your family line to one of them, your genealogy report could extend as far back as 30 generations. I will provide your genealogy report in PDF format, and if you prefer a printed report, that can be arranged for an additional fee.
I can trace some of your family lines back 20 generations and in some cases even further, or until I hit a dead end due to a lack of documents. The genealogy report I prepare is particularly useful for people with ancestors from Quebec, I can generally trace most lines back to the late 1500s.
YES! The primary sources I consult and source are publicly available. I cannot provide copies of every document, as this would be an exhausting task. However, I do include documents such as parish records, census records, and newspaper records such as obituaries. If you want a copy of a certain document with the report, I can do that for you. Your genealogy report will include a list of every source I consulted. If I did not provide a copy of a document after you get your report, simply connect with me and I will get that for you.
YES! I approach every genealogy project as I would my own. If I find anecdotal information on your ancestry, you can count on it being in your genealogy! Some of the anecdotal information may be one or two sentences, while in others it may be a small biographical write-up.
YES! If you want to know who your great grandparents’ siblings were, I can include that in your genealogy report. Just let me know what you want to know.
YES! If I find a photo and can verify that it is authentic, I will include it in your report. I treat each family history as if it were my own, and I would want photos of my ancestors. If I find it, you will get it!
Every research project, like every family, is different. I strive for authenticity and accuracy. Generally, you can expect to have your genealogy report in as little as one month.
YES! I can research one ancestor for you and provide you with all the documents I can locate for them. If you have a specific question about an ancestor, I can help you with that! I approach genealogy research with the goal of going beyond names, dates and places. I want to help you bring your ancestors to life!
YES! If you only want to know the genealogy of one parent or one grandparent, I can centre the research on them and prepare the genealogy report for you from them.
YES! I will begin the research from you, utilising census, civil and parish records to connect your family lines to your ancestors on Treaty Annuity Pay Lists.
YES! If I find your ancestors applied for or received Métis Scrip, I will provide you with copies of them in your report. If you just want proof of Métis ancestors, I can provide that, but connect with me first as some Métis organisations have specific requirements for membership. Contact me at paul@paulsash.ca.
In most cases, all I will need to start the research are the names of your grandparents. If you also know who your great-grandparents are, that is even better. Connect with me at paul@paulsash.ca and submit your payment, and I can begin the research. Other payment options are available.
